Lakad for Karapatan
is a family-friendly 5k race, raising funds for health related projects and initiatives in the Philippines. We’ve provided relief and rehabilitation to communities impacted by typhoons and volcano eruptions, and have supported domestic efforts through organizations like the Filipino Bayanihan Center’s Health Programs in Portland, OR.

All proceeds from our race will go to the Filipino Bayanihan Center, a migrant service center that aims to connect community members to essential resources. The center also partners with the Foundation for Philippine Progress, an organization dedicated to empowering and engaging communities in programs and projects for the Philippines to secure quality health, education, and basic human rights for every Filipino. We do this work also alongside the Philippine Nurses Association of Oregon and Washington, an organization that engages in charitable activities that promotes unity among Filipino American Nurses in Oregon and Washington. They all partner to build an organization of united nurses to
promote outreach programs.

What does the day look like?
8 am
Race Day Check-in
Please check in in a timely manner to ensure that you do not miss the start of the race! Come pick up your race materials, swag bags, and a good morning high five!
We'll get the music started so that you can enjoy some pre-race stretches and some nice beats!
9 am
Race Begins
Shoes, check! socks, check! yourself, check! 3,2,1 and the race begins! Loop 5 times around the route and you are done!
10 am
Party in the park
With live music and local Filipino chefs and restaurants, we celebrate our accomplishments! There will be food booths from which you can purchase from. Come join us for this post-event, family friendly celebration as we conclude Lakad for Karapatan

About Lakad PDX
LAKAD PDX is an organization that engages the community to take on movement activities for a cause. In the past, proceeds have supported the building of water systems for indigenous people of Mindanao (Lumad), building community clinics in the Philippines and in Oregon, as well as supporting relief, rehabilitation, and livelihood projects in the Philippines.
What We Do
On September 5th, we are hosting Lakad for Karapatan to raise $75,000 for health related projects and initiatives in the Philippines. This money provides life-saving relief and rehabilitation to Filipinos in the Philppines, as well as our kapabayan here in Portland, Oregon at the Filipino Bayanihan Center.
We present an opportunity to take steps in supporting health workers and health and wellness of the Filipino people. We aim to create a pathway for these first steps to transform into a continuous movement.
